A Month of Service

il_340x270.504851903_c84p.jpg

The Bible says in Psalm 100:4, "Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!  Give Thanks to Him; Bless His name!

As Christians living in the United States, we should be so grateful and thankful for all of God's blessings in our lives. He is good! His mercy endures forever. At TSCA, we are encouraging all of our teachers and staff to promote these themes throughout the month of November in all of their classes. We are trusting that the students, as they learn these lessons, will apply them by taking part in service projects that we have planned for this month.  Each department in the school will have a different focus.

Pre-School and Kindergarten: The Pajama Project The pre-school and kindergarten will be partnering with "The Pajama Program" and Scholastic Books in the "Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive." Our little ones will be able to donate a new pair of pajamas to children in need. Scholastic will then match the donation with a new book for the recipient! New pajamas are a very exciting gift for any child. We are looking forward to see how many pajamas that will be able to donate to this wonderful program!

Elementary: Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child The elementary students will be participating in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. Each classroom will be filling two shoe boxes full of gifts and necessities for needy children. Samaritan's Purse will then send the packed boxes to children in need around the world. This is a good way for our elementary students to show God's love to other children around the world.

Middle School: Operation Paris Foundation The middle school students will be collecting items that will help the Paris Foundation meet the needs of the helpless and homeless of Cecil County. Each student is asked to bring in white athletic socks, hats, gloves and blankets. Mike Brandon, executive director of the Paris Foundation, says that these items are essential for people as they face the prospects of a long, cold winter in Cecil County. Mr. Moran will have containers in the middle and high school hall to have students drop off the items. The students will have until Tuesday November 25th to contribute to the cause.

High School: Operation Thanksgiving Dinner Each high school class will be asked to prepare boxes that will provide a local needy family with the ingredients necessary for a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner.  In lieu of a nonperishable food product, money will be accepted to purchase a turkey for each box. The goal is to provide eight families with a nice holiday dinner. In addition to the dinner boxes, our junior and senior classes will be involved in either serving or preparing a meal for the Paris Foundation during the week of November 10th.
